Paint provides the finishing touch and beautification for their home.
That being said, there are many things to consider when purchasing paint or hiring a professional that will purchase and apply the paint. Homeowners are usually thinking about the most esthetic effects of paint first such as color and sheen. Durability is a secondary consideration but important especially when paying a lot of money for a professional to apply it to the hard to reach exterior exposures on their home. People want it to last for many years.
I once had a young person say to me "so you are in the paint business. Isn't that boring? What's so fascinating about paint? Well I had to enlighten this person so with my most enthusiastic wise mentor-like voice I said, "paint, a liquid in a can that you can put on a wall, it defies gravity, in any color in the rainbow, dries to a uniform sheen and provides an insulating durable film". "Paint is probably the most chemically complicated substance you can buy without a prescription or license." The young person said "wow, I never thought about it like that." Most people don't. Only a paint nerd like myself thinks of such things.
This is my first blog so I will use it as an intro to many paint related topics. I plan on writing about subjects like good paint vs not so good paint, chemical indicators of good paint, expensive paint vs not so expensive paint, label warranties, contractors warranties, proper painting techniques and many other related topics. I hope you will follow my periodic posts. Jay---Adirondack Painting
